Eugene Incerti - Director of Skills Competitions, UK Skills
Eugene Incerti has held the position of Director of Skills Competitions at UK Skills since July 2007 and also holds the office of UK Technical Delegate and Jury President at WorldSkills competitions. Since his arrival at UK Skills he has lead the UK to success at two major internationals skills competitions; EuroSkills and WorldSkills.
The inaugural EuroSkills competition was held in Rotterdam in 2008 where the UK secured a placing of 2nd out of 29 countries and collected eight gold medals. Most recently the UK produced their best ever recorded performance at WorldSkills placing 7th out of 48 nations, collecting nine medals including three gold and six bronze. In addition, Team UK were awarded 14 Medallions for Excellence.
Eugene has also overseen the growth in participation in WorldSkills UK, the national competitions run by UK Skills, by 67% in the last two years.
Prior to working at UK Skills, Eugene worked as the Operations Director for Thatcham (Motor Insurance Repair Research Centre) where he was responsible for the vehicle accident repair research and their Vocational Training Division. Eugene expanded their activities to include apprentice training and opened an apprentice centre which became a Centre of Vocation Excellence (CoVE) after only one year. The Centre attracted automotive employers such as BMW, Rolls Royce, Jaguar, and Ford to train their apprentices and the centre has won a National Training Award on two occasions.
Eugene’s background is in the automotive and FMCG manufacturing industries, working on international projects for organisations such as Gillette, Avon Automotive and BTR. Qualifications held include a Masters Degree in Project Management and an Honours degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Eugene is a Chartered Engineer and member of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers. He is also a Black Belt in Transactional Lean Six Sigma.
