Ian S Ferguson CBE

Ian is Chairman of Data Connection Ltd, a computer communications and telephony technology company he founded over 25 years ago, after a career with Unilever and IBM. Data Connection has been in the top 10 in the Sunday Times 100 Best Companies to Work For for the last five years.

He was a member of Mike Tomlinson's 14-19 Working Group, and is currently:

  • on the National Learning and Skills Council focusing on young people’s training and education, including Apprenticeships
  • on the Board of the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority and Chairman of its Qualifications and Skills Advisory Group
  • on the Board of the Training and Development Agency for Schools
  • Deputy Chairman of the Apprenticeships Ambassadors Network
  • on the Education and Skills Committee of the CBI
  • on the Board of UK Skills.
  • a member of the Government’s Talent and Enterprise Taskforce.
  • He was awarded a CBE in 2005 for his work on learning and skills.
